08/13/2008 11:51AM

Question:

Dear Dr. Wellness, in the last three months I have expereinced a tingling in my lower lip that is then followed with my bottom lip pulling to the left of my mouth. It will hold for approximately 1-2 min. relaxes and returns to normal. No other symptoms accompany this. I have found that it does not occur everytime, but when it does occur it is approx. 45min. after I eat something. What are your thoughts. Thank you.

Answer:

While it does not sound serious, this is an unusual complaint. You should seek an appointment with an oral pathologist or oral surgeon to have this “spasm” evaluated by clinical inspection and palpation.
